FREMONT, CA. – Lumetric Inc., the leading provider of controllable, intelligent large area lighting (ILAL), today announced that its flagship product, the SmartPOD™, has received product certification from Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

The energy-efficient SmartPOD stands alone in this noteworthy distinction, certified by UL to perform perfectly up to 65°C, underscoring it’s unique ability to operate in high-heat, high-bay industrial and manufacturing facilities. 

While most lighting technology on the market is not designed to perform in high heat, the SmartPOD, with its unique approach to managing high intensity discharge (HID) bulbs, operates smoothly in as high as 65°C temperatures without a drop in light quality. While other high-bay offerings, such as traditional HID, eHID, LEDs and fluorescents struggle to deal with temperature issues at much lower levels than 65°C, the SmartPOD accomplished the vigorous UL certification with ease, demonstrating outstanding light quality and excellent performance at a temperature well out of the realm of possibilities for the others. Other solutions simply cannot operate at full capacity in high heat environments. 

The SmartPOD’s unequaled prowess working in high temperatures makes it uniquely suited for high bay facilities, where temperatures tend to be 25°-30° warmer at the ceiling then at ground level. The SmartPOD luminaire is also ideal for sites where significant heat is produced -- industrial and manufacturing facilities, foundries, etc. -- especially when located in warm southern climates. Temperature has shown to be an area of concern for industrial and commercial customers seeking energy efficient lighting.
